Artist Statement – Explores a taste that exists beyond explanation, judgment, or a single reason. People may reach for it in moments of happiness, sadness, love, loneliness, unbearable pressure, financial success, bankruptcy, celebration, disappointment, or simply to escape from reality. The reasons may be countless, and each person carries a different story behind that moment. Yet, sometimes, the feeling cannot be expressed through words or even understood by others. The bottle and cigarette therefore become symbols not only of addiction, but also of human emotions, struggles, choices, and temporary escapes.
Ultimately, this painting asks a simple question, What is the taste we seek when words are no longer enough to express what we feel?
