Artist Statement – WALK YOUR OWN WAY

A crab is often used as a symbol of moving differently as if walking straight is the only correct way to move. In everyday life, people can face the same kind of criticism. When someone works differently from others, they are often questioned, judged, or even compared to a crab.

But this painting asks a simple question, If your way is correct, ethical, and causes no harm to others, why should you change simply to satisfy someone else’s opinion?

The crab does not change its nature because others criticize the way it moves. It continues forward in its own way.

This work is a reminder to remain true to yourself. Do not change your values, attitude, or identity just to fit the expectations of others. If your path is honest and right, have the courage to walk it your own way.
