Artist Statement –This painting is based on a true story. It tells the story of a
young boy whose parents could not afford to pay for English tuition because of
their financial difficulties. Every day after school, the boy quietly stood
outside the tuition classroom, behind the wall, and listened carefully to the
lesson. He could not see the teacher or the other students, but he never gave
up. He came there regularly, hoping to learn just by listening. This artwork is
a tribute to children who have a strong desire to learn despite poverty and
hardship. It reminds us that determination, hope, and the love of education can
be stronger than financial limitations.
